Braiding (16 hours credit)


Objective:

The objective of this (2) day course is to cover and go over in depth subject matters most frequently requested by our industry professional today.

As a beauty industry professional, it is our duty to keep abreast of the latest information on infectious diseases. This course stresses the importance in learning as much as possible about new developments. Being informed is the best way to protect ourselves.

Outline:
  1. Identify the word that each letter stands for in the following: (5 Hours)
    1. AIDS
    2. HIV
    3. ARC
    4. PWA
    5. PLWA
  2. Define the term "virus"
  3. Explain how the immune system works:
    1. Identifying the normal role of the T-helper cells.
    2. Identifying where white blood cells are found in the body.
    3. Identifying the role of the white blood cells.
  4. Explain how HIV breaks up the immune system:
    1. Identifying the role of the T-helper cells after infection with HIV.
    2. Identifying what happens to the white blood cells after HIV infection.
    3. Explaining why HIV is different from other viruses and why that makes it had to find a vaccine.
    4. Identify what is meant by "opportunistic infections"
  5. Oral & Written Exam
  6. Sterilization and Sanitation (5 Hours)
    1. Discuss the difference
    2. Which practice is used in common place to retard the growth of bacteria
  7. Difference between diseases (4 Hours)
    1. Disorders of the scalp
    2. Which one is treatable by the hair braider
  8. How the law governs the hair industry and how they apply to hair braiders. (2 Hours)
